Evaluation 4

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Research and Planning
This was mostly done via the internet. Information on genre conventions and tropes, as well as media theories can easily be found online, however finding relevant information was time consuming as many articles had a lot of unnecessary information I did not need. I also had to double check whether the information was correct by comparing them to multiple sources which also takes a long time.
During the planning stage, the internet yet again was used to, this time to find suitable clothing for the main character which must indicate that she is a girl from the Victorian era.

Construction
In this part, many different technologies were used.
  • Camera- a Nikon D3300 was used to shoot the film. As the owner, I was the camera person for the duration of the filming.
  • Stabiliser and tripod- I used a camera stabiliser occasionally to reduce shaking and a tripod was also used in scenes which all three of us were busy.
  • Mac/Final Cut Pro- a Mac was used and we used a program called Final Cut Pro to edit. As a Windows user and fan, using a Mac was irritating due to the difference in layout and usage and the mouse was also a nightmare to use. Final Cut Pro is a professional software used by many to edit videos; using it was not a terrible experience as all we had to do was 'Google' how to do things, such as 'how to make a blank scene' or 'how to separate and extract audio', which was really easy. The program is user friendly, however we somehow struggled to export the video and upload it onto YouTube which I blame on the Mac. It turned out that YouTube was unable to support the video due to how high the resolution was, which in my opinion does not make sense since it was only 1080p and not 4k but I learnt to deal with it.
  • FireAlpaca- this is a program I use to draw and sometimes edit photos. It is extremely user-friendly (and free!) and has helped me be more creative in my ancillary tasks. I used this to draw the main character for the poster and the small tree for the magazine.
  • Canva- this is an online editing and digital designer. This was used to put together the ancillary tasks. I used this to add the text and images. It is extremely easy to use (also free!) and is used by many.
  • Graphic tablet- I used a graphic tablet for the drawing stages, it allowed me to be more creative and more accurate in my drawings.
Evaluation
Everything I have done is posted on here. The site you are on now. All the research, planning, and the final products, also the evaluation now, is posted on Blogger, which is an easy blogging site anyone can use. The layout is simple and it is just user-friendly overall. This has helped me show you what I have done, however I feel like the theme I chose is time consuming because every post is on a different page and so you have to click on every post individually; there are more simple ones, however I like this theme so I won't change it.
