Final Girl

Carol Clover-
The final girl In her 1987 essay, "Her Body, Himself", Clover of the University of California argued that horror movies actually give male viewers an opportunity to embrace their femininity. Clover noticed that in many horror films, typically all the female character are killed, save for the sole girl who struggles and fights for survival, ultimately escaping from the villain. From this, she argued that this was one of the few film genre which asks male audiences to identify with a successful female protagonist. So, this 'sexist' genre may not be so sexist as some claim it to be.
